Abstract
Drug resistance of 257 isolates of M. tuberculosis form from pulmonary tuberculosis patients who were treated at Inchon Red Cross Sanatorium from January 1979 to December 1979 has been investigated. Prevalences of drug resistance of those isolates to antituberculous drugs tested were as follows; 27.2% to PAS, 34.2% to SM, 62.3% to INH, 17.9% to PTA(1321), 9.3% to CS, 35.4% to EMB, 13.6% to KM and 23.7% to RMP. These results were compared with the resistance rates of 355 strains which were isolated from pulmonary tuberculosis patients who had been treated at Inchon Red Cross Sanatorium from January 1975 to December 1977. Prevalences of drug resistance of those latter isolates were 29.3% to PAS, 26.2% to SM, 58.9% to INH, 26.5% to PTA, 9.6% to CS, 20.3% to EMB, 6.5% to KM and 9.9% to RMP. In summary, 1) Resistance rates of PAS, Prothionamide and Cycloserine have not increased 2) That of Isoniazid and Streptomycin have increased slightly and 3) Resistance rates of Ethambutol, Kanamycin and Rifampicin revealed remarkably increasing tendency(p.<0.01).
